How do these heads sound, and how durable are they?
Remo's unique SKINDEEP™ imaging technology is being applied to an ever-growing number of their drumhead products. Neckbone is offering CyberMax, Ambassador, Emperor, PowerStroke 3 and PowerMax graphic heads. Custom graphics may also be available on conga and djembe heads. In all cases, the graphic is imaged directly to the exact drumhead film used for each variety of head. This happens at the Remo factory before the head is manufactured; it is NOT a sticker or patch applied to an existing drumhead. It is NOT a UV print process that adds weight to the head and can chip and scratch.
The finished head has the same sound and durability as the standard, non-graphic model. The Ambassador is a true Ambassador, the Emperor is a true Emperor, the CyberMax is exactly a CyberMax, and so forth. In most cases the graphic resides between the plys of film, completely protected from wear and tear. It cannot be "played off". Also, the image is printed with inks that are highly resistant to fading when exposed to sunlight.
Can I order a specific model of Remo head, or an Evans head with graphics?
Remo is the only drumhead company that offers this imaging technology. Therefore, graphics are not available on Evans, Attack, or Aquarian products. The Remo models currently available with graphics include Ambassador, Emperor, PowerStroke 3, PowerMax and CyberMax. Other custom film constructions may be possible.
Neckbone maintains a close working relationship with Remo. We can advise you on the proper choice of drumhead for your needs.
How do I place a custom order?
Simple. Use our Request a quote page to explain what you'd like your drumhead to be. We'll reply, and once we understand what your job will entail, Neckbone will post an itemized quote to a confidential page, and e-mail you the link. After you've accepted the quote, Neckbone begins work on your job and posts mock-ups of your drumhead/artwork until you are satisfied and are ready to have the head made. Any additional charges are discussed beforehand, and the quote is updated as your project progresses.
How do I pay for my order?
Once you've approved your artwork, we'll convert your quote to an invoice, which will display your final charges. You can pay directly from your invoice page in one of two ways. First, you can pay by credit card through paypal's secure payment system by clicking the link at the bottom of the invoice. Or, the Neckbone address is also displayed if you wish to pay by check or money order. Once payment is received, Neckbone places your order with Remo, and delivers the digital file. We oversee all aspects of your order, including a final inspection and shipping to your address as specified in your quote.
I'd like to use a digital file that I create. What specifications should I build my file to?
For Adobe Photoshop and other pixel-based programs: For drumheads, the full-sized resolution should be no less than 180 dpi, and add a 1"bleed around the edge (22" head = 24"x 24"file, with the center 22"being the final visible area). Build or convert to CMYK colorspace. Your final design can be submitted as a JPEG saved at the highest quality, or a PDF file saved at "press quality". You may opt to send a layered file as native Photoshop, (.psd).
For Adobe Illustrator and other vector-based programs: Use CMYK, convert fonts to outlines, embed any placed bitmapped elements, send as native Illustrator file, (.ai), or as press-quality PDF.
Neckbone Graphics is the absolute expert at creating the perfect version of your graphic. Our job is to make sure your design looks great on a drumhead. We're always available to answer questions.
Can I get a mic hole pre-cut when the head is manufactured?
Yes. For an extra $5, we can ask Remo to pre-cut a mic hole as part of their manufacturing process. You can specify the size and location you'd like. We'll preview the mic hole, (to scale) on any head posted to the Neckbone proofing page.
Why must the Remo Crown always appear on these drumheads?
Remo, Inc has stipulated that all Remo drumheads must display the Remo logo. They will add it before printing if we don't. However, Remo will allow Neckbone to place the logo in accordance with some general guidelines. Currently, Remo stipulates that the crown must appear at either the top or bottom edge of the head, outside of any artwork, in a specific size, and in only black or white colors. Mockups will show the Remo crown.
Can I get a copy of the artwork you've created for me?
Yes. When you place your order, you can ask to have a CD included with your files, for an extra $30. Neckbone will save your graphics in several different formats. The CD will run in PC and MAC, and will have your graphic saved in a variety of formats suitable for hi-res printing, (Flyers, CD artwork, etc.), or for Web uses, (jpeg, transparent GIF, etc.). Layered files are included so future editing can be performed easily.
How long does it take for me to get my heads?
A good general estimate is 8-12 weeks. The first step in the process is potentially the most time consuming one.....the editing and preparation of your digital file. Once your order is placed with Remo, it typically ships in about 6-7 weeks, directly to you from Remo. We keep you updated as to the progress of your order, and always notify you when it has been shipped out.
